Biography
About Alexander G. Dietz
Alexander Dietz was taught to value civic duty and community service from a young age, following his parents’ example. The lessons serve him well today as he fights for individuals in legal disputes related to civil rights, childhood sexual abuse, and bad-faith insurance cases. From discovery and strategy to writing court briefs and preparing clients for testimony and exhibits for trials, Alex puts his values, experience—and compassion—to work for clients as a member of the PCVA team.
Alex’s early legal experiences at the Duke Law Health Justice Clinic and the Duke Law Civil Justice Clinic, as well as an internship at a Seattle, Washington pro bono public interest law firm, inspired him to devote his legal career to helping others. There, he served indigent, homeless, and other resource-challenged individuals facing barriers to stable healthcare, social security disability, and housing, helping them navigate the legal system. The cases were challenging and often unpredictable, but he found that using the law to lift up people who have been wronged was highly satisfying.
Through those formative experiences and his affinity for problem solving, Alex developed a unique set of skills and sensitivities. At PCVA, his approach is one of aggressive advocacy tempered with due care and caution for his clients, knowing how important it is to help physically and emotionally injured individuals stay focused on their cases—no matter how difficult that may be. When unraveling the traumatic experiences and aftereffects of childhood sexual abuse as a case evolves, he believes it is essential to keep the lines of client communication open. Only when clients fully understand their cases and how they are progressing can they make informed decisions to reach their goals through settlement or litigation.
Alex never loses sight of the emotionally charged journey a victim has endured and he is willing to “put in the work” to help them find closure and financial compensation. He believes that everyone who has suffered injustice deserves capable and vigorous representation, is persistent in achieving that goal, and relishes the feel-good moments when a case is decided in favor of a PCVA client.
