Alexandre Caya

Alexandre Caya is an intellectual property lawyer and patent agent based in Montreal. He focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law in several areas of mechanical engineering.

Mr. Caya drafts and prosecutes patent applications. In this capacity, he provides advice on issues regarding patentability, validity, counterfeiting and freedom to operate in areas of sporting equipment, clean technologies, transportation, road infrastructures, manufacturing, construction equipment, and engineering. He also provides assistance with patent-related aspects in intellectual property litigation.

While studying at university, Mr. Caya was part of a research group focused on cycling, specifically on the vibration of components and structures and on bicycles' dynamic behaviour. He also worked at a manufacturing company in the field of components for off-road and military vehicles.

In commercial law, Mr. Caya drafts and reviews various agreements, such as licensing and non-disclosure agreements and agreements relating to research and development. He takes part in commercial transactions involving intellectual property issues.

Before joining our firm, Mr. Caya worked for two years in a large national law firm specialized in intellectual property.
