About Bertrand C. Sellier

Randy is of counsel to the firm, and his practice is concentrated on commercial and employment litigation and advice. Randy began his legal career with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. In 1985, he joined Stein, Zauderer, Ellenhorn, Friedman & Kaplan and became a partner in a successor firm in 1987. In 2003, Randy joined Proskauer Rose as a litigation partner, where he spent seven years. Randy is currently an adjunct professor at Fordham University School of Law, teaching Professional Responsibility: Civil Litigation Seminar.
During his career, Randy has been involved in a wide range of litigations, arbitrations, and mediations, including matters involving contracts, securities, employment, non-competition agreements, partnerships, product liability, international commercial disputes and professional liability. He has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, both on behalf of clients and as a mediator. Randy has written numerous articles for the New York Law Journal and other publications on a variety of subjects. He has been recognized as AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

• A group of former senior executives in an action to enforce their severance agreement.
• A major non-profit corporation in an action concerning its right to reimbursement for certain pension payments.

• An air freight company against claims concerning the return of military equipment from Afghanistan.
• Bondholders in class actions against the Republic of Argentina.
• An international distributor of heart stents in a contract dispute with a manufacturer.
• An international bank against claims by former executives.
• A prominent international law firm in an action involving alleged malpractice.
• A medical school against discrimination claims asserted by a former student.
• A hedge fund in the enforcement of a partnership agreement against a departing partner.

Randy received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Wesleyan University and an M.I.A. degree, cum laude, from the Columbia School of International Affairs. He received his J.D., cum laude, from New York University School of Law, where he received the John Norton Pomeroy Prize for academic excellence and was a member of the New York University Law Review and the Order of the Coif. Randy served as the mayor of the Village of Pelham Manor (2013-2015) and as a Trustee (2007-2013). He has handled numerous pro bono matters and was one of the principal lawyers in a major election law case on behalf of the Ohio League of Women Voters. He is also active in bar associations and serves as a mediator in the Southern District of New York and the New York State Court Commercial Division.
