Casey F. Rickard

Casey F. Rickard is a Member with the firm’s Estate Planning & Probate Group, as well as the firm’s Tax Group. Casey’s practice is focused primarily in the areas of estate planning, income and wealth transfer taxation planning, marital property planning, charitable gift planning, probate, and trust administration. In addition, Casey regularly advises private foundations and pubic charities on a range of tax and non-tax related matters and works with owners of closely held businesses on a variety of partnership and corporate income tax matters, as well as state and local tax matters.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

• Prepare, among other things, wills and revocable trusts (including tax-planned wills and revocable trusts), trusts for support and education of children and grandchildren, grantor retained annuity trusts, life insurance trusts, split interest charitable trusts, third-party settled special needs trusts, premarital and post-marital agreements, and incapacity planning documents.

• Advise tax-exempt organizations on formation and governance matters, federal tax compliance (including matters regarding self-dealing, the unrelated business income tax, and tax issues specific to private foundations), planned giving arrangements, fundraising, conflicts of interest, fiduciary duties, and state law compliance.

• Advise stakeholders in family limited partnerships and limited liability companies on wealth preservation, federal tax planning, and succession matters.

• Advise fiduciaries in the administration of estates and trusts, including trust and estate income tax matters, asset valuation, trust terminations, proceedings to construe trust terms, and “decanting” of trusts.
