About Christopher M. Taylor
Christopher M. Taylor is a shareholder practicing in Butzel Long's Ann Arbor office. He represents businesses, institutions and individuals that wish to exploit, defend and protect their intellectual property, including technology startups, Fortune 100 manufacturers, universities, application service providers, software developers, film producers, television and radio stations, record labels, and authors.
Mr. Taylor's experience in the areas of business, intellectual property, and entertainment law have included the drafting and negotiation of services, nondisclosure, talent, and supply agreements; patent, trademark and copyright licensing; mergers and acquisitions; information technology and intellectual property management and compliance policies; and the prosecution of trademark registration applications and management of trademark portfolios including the defense and prosecution of opposition and cancellation proceedings before the United States Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Mr. Taylor ranked 14th in the United States on the CSC Trademark Insider® list of "Q3-2009: Top 50 Trademark Attorneys." The Trademark Insider® is developed through analysis of public trademark filings data compiled by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Taylor is deeply involved in the community, serving as a member of the Ann Arbor City Council representing the Third Ward. His pro bono work includes service as Vice President to 826michigan and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Performance Network Theater.
Mr. Taylor is a graduate of The University of Michigan School of Law (J.D., cum laude) where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Law Review. Also from the University of Michigan, he has received an M.A. in American History; a B.M.A. in Vocal Performance with honors; and a B.A. in English with high distinction. Mr. Taylor served as a judicial clerk for Judge Bruce M. Selya on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Mr. Taylor is in his second term as a member of the State Bar of Michigan's District G Character and Fitness Committee.

· Represented a private equity investor in a complicated effort to purchase a major OEM's glass manufacturing operations in North America
· Complex, multi-continent acquisitions of companies for an international polymers manufacturer
· $75 million acquisition of US and non-US assets; complex deal involved acquisition of stock and assets located in North America, Europe, Asia and South America
