Christopher T. Caplinger

Chris Caplinger is a partner at Kean Miller in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he represents clients in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law and Litigation – Bankruptcy. His practice includes bankruptcy, restructuring, and creditors’ rights, as well as marine insurance coverage and oil and gas matters. Chris represents debtors, creditors, and creditor committees in Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization cases, creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings, and creditors and defendants in contested matters and adversary proceedings before bankruptcy courts, along with related litigation in federal district courts. He also advises clients in a wide range of commercial litigation matters.

Chris works with clients across numerous industries, including energy, food and beverage, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, gaming, marine, retail, trucking, and transportation. Chris has been selected to serve as debtor’s counsel in several of the largest bankruptcy cases filed in the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, as well as in the Southern District of Alabama. He also has significant experience prosecuting and defending avoidance actions and handling other contested matters and litigation before bankruptcy courts.

Chris holds board certification in business bankruptcy law through the American Board of Certification and the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.

While in law school, Chris served as an extern to the Honorable Helen “Ginger” Berrigan of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. He also served as a law clerk for the New Orleans Office of the U.S. Trustee Program, Region 5.
