Daniel E. Cummins, Esquire is the managing partner of Cummins Law and has over 25 years of insurance defense and personal injury civil litigation experience all across the entire northeastern quarter of Pennsylvania.

Attorney Cummins, who is a graduate of Villanova University and the Dickinson School of Law, has focused his practice on defending motor vehicle accident liability cases and UIM/UM matters along with premises liability and products liability cases. Mr. Cummins is also routinely summoned by his clients to handle matters involving insurance coverage questions and insurance subrogation claims.

Attorney Cummins is one of only a few insurance defense attorneys in all of northeastern Pennsylvania selected to annually appear in the prestigious Best Lawyers in America Directory under the category of "Personal Injury Litigation - Defense," a distinction he has earned every year since 2015.

In 2023, the Best Lawyers in America Directory started a directory of the Best Law Firms in America and included Cummins law in the same. Cummins Law has been listed in the Best Law Firms in America Directory every year since.

In 2014, Attorney Cummins was honored by the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, a statewide organization of over 400 defense attorneys and insurance claims professionals, with their "Distinguished Defense Counsel of the Year Award." This Award is designed to recognize an attorney who "best exemplifies the qualities of professionalism, dedication to the practice of law, promotion of the highest ideals of justice in the community, and has a demonstrated commitment to the PDI and its members."

Attorney Cummins is experienced in all phases of litigation and negotiation and is not afraid to take a case to verdict. Mr. Cummins utilizes the great respect he has earned from his dealings with opposing counsel and judges all across northeastern Pennsylvania for the benefit of his clients. His high stature among his fellow members of the bar assists in bringing positive results in the claims he defends, whether it be by a win at trial or a favorable settlement of the case presented.

Attorney Cummins takes great pride in returning all phone calls and emails within 24 hours, continually moving his files forward in a prompt and efficient fashion, and making his client contacts feel comfortable in their understanding of the legal issues presented in every case. As part of his practice, Attorney Cummins also provides mediation services through Cummins Mediation Services. He also is a certified Federal Court Mediator for the Federal Middle District Court of Pennsylvania. Attorney Cummins is therefore also available to assist all litigants in bringing their matters to a close by way of mediation.

In addition to being a seasoned litigator, Attorney Cummins is an excellent writer who has also published over 200 articles that have appeared in such various publications around the United States as The Legal Intelligencer, the Pennsylvania Law Weekly, the Pennsylvania Lawyer magazine, the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal, the Scranton Times Tribune, the New Jersey Law Journal, the Texas Lawyer, and the Claims Management Magazine, to name a few. He has earned eight (8) Schnader Print Media Awards for excellence in legal writing.

He is also the sole creator and writer of the nationally recognized and award-winning blog Tort Talk, which can be found at www.TortTalk.com. The Tort Talk blog provides continuing updates on important Pennsylvania civil litigation cases and trends. Access to the blog is free and readers can sign up for an email subscription on the blog.

Attorney Cummins has also created and presented nearly 70 continuing legal education (CLE) courses over the years. These courses are designed to provide updates and analysis to fellow members of the bar on important court decisions and emerging trends in civil litigation law to both lawyers and judges at various conferences and seminars.

CLERKSHIP

After graduating from law school, Mr. Cummins served as the Senior Law Clerk for the Honorable Harold A. Thomson, Jr. in the Pike County Court of Common Pleas for two years before going into private practice, where he has focused on insurance defense litigation ever since.

PERSONAL

Attorney Cummins resides in the South Abington section of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania with his wife, Anne, and their three sons, Daniel, Michael, and Christopher, along with their Black Lab, Ellie. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing, exercising, traveling, and coaching local little league sports. He is an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Villanova Wildcats basketball team, and the Abington Heights Comets.
