David Ian Walters

DAVID I. WALTERS, a Shareholder with the Firm, is a member of the firm's defense litigation team with a practice that is focused upon commercial transportation, motor vehicle collisions, premises liability, construction negligence, construction defects and products liability. David is an experienced trial lawyer who is actively involved in litigation of matters venued in federal and state court. David's practice extends well beyond the City of Chicago. David frequently handles matters in throughout Northwestern Illinois including Boone, Dekalb, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Winnebago Counties.

David has extensive experience successfully defending motor carriers in claims involving significant injuries and wrongful death. David has also been involved in litigation arising from equipment rental and is well versed in the nuances of the equipment rental industry. He also has extensive experience representing landlords, tenants and snow plowing contractors in premises liability lawsuits. In addition resolving claims of general negligence within all major industries, David has also successfully resolved claims and advised clients on issues related to insurance coverage, commercial disputes and antitrust violations.

David has successfully tried cases to verdict as lead trial counsel and his experience as a trial lawyer is instrumental to posturing cases for resolution in more cost effective forms of alternative dispute resolution. David is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court Northern District of Illinois, Central District of Illinois, Southern District of Illinois, and Northern District of Indiana.

David is a graduate of Carthage College (B.A.) and DePaul University College of Law (J.D.), where he was the recipient of the CALI Award for Academic Excellence in the study of Antitrust and the Marks Prize in Antitrust.
