Ed Diab is a distinguished Founding Partner at our firm, where he spearheads the wildfire and mass disaster practice. With a focus on representing public entities affected by utility or third-party induced wildfires, Ed has achieved remarkable success, securing over $1.6 billion in settlements for his wildfire clients. Recognized for his exceptional legal prowess, Ed was honored with the esteemed California Lawyer Attorney of the Year ("CLAY") Award by the Daily Journal in 2020. This recognition was in response to his instrumental role in securing a $360 million settlement for 20 public entities impacted by the 2017 Thomas Fire, Montecito Mudslides, and the 2018 Woolsey Fire.

In response to the catastrophic Dixie Fire in 2021, the largest wildfire in California's history, Ed was retained by all five affected counties to pursue litigation against PG&E, facilitating the recovery of taxpayer losses.

Throughout his career, Ed has orchestrated numerous significant settlements and recoveries for public entity wildfire cases, including the $28.5 million settlement for the 2015 Butte Fire, the $415 million settlement for the 2017 North Bay Fires, and the $582 million settlement for the 2018 Camp Fire, among others.

Ed's experience extends beyond wildfire litigation. He played a pivotal role in negotiating a historic $1 billion settlement in 2019 for taxpayer losses resulting from the 2015 Butte Fire, 2017 North Bay Fires, and 2018 Camp Fire. Notably, he served as co-lead counsel against PG&E for the Town of Paradise and other entities, as well as against Southern California Edison for various municipalities.

Furthermore, Ed has represented over 1,500 individuals and families affected by wildfires, providing them with steadfast legal advocacy. His involvement in high-profile cases such as the San Bruno Gas Pipeline Explosion and the Powerhouse Wildfire underscores his commitment to seeking justice for those impacted by natural disasters.

Ed's leadership and formidable experience have been recognized through his appointment to numerous prestigious positions, including serving on various Plaintiffs Executive Committees and Steering Committees for significant litigations across the country.

Ed earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of California Davis and obtained his law degree from California Western School of Law. His dedication to his clients and his relentless pursuit of justice make him an invaluable asset to our firm and the communities he serves.
