Eric J. Moutz earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000 and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Ohio Northern University in 1997. While at the University of Michigan, Mr. Moutz won the United States national championship in the Jessup Moot Court Competition, an award of excellence in the oral advocacy program, and was an assistant editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform. During law school, Mr. Moutz clerked for the Ohio Fifth District Court of Appeals in Canton, Ohio.

Mr. Moutz was admitted to practice law in Minnesota in 2000 and Colorado in 2002. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Boulder County Bar Association, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and the NORML Legal Committee. Mr. Moutz is currently licensed to practice law in Colorado, as well as before the Federal District Court of Colorado, the Federal District Court of Minnesota, and the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Moutz also serves on the Board of Directors of Apogaea, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit and has previously served as a hearing officer for the Denver Civil Service Commission.

Mr. Moutz formed his own firm after working for almost a decade as a trial attorney for two large international law firms, where he handled numerous complex and high-stakes litigation matters. These cases have included contract disputes, partnership disputes, securities and fraud cases, construction defect cases, real estate disputes, and employment matters.
