For more than two decades, Mr. Herdman has represented clients in New Mexico having a diversity of legal needs, including representation and advice on matters involving general business, real estate, construction, employment, land use and zoning approvals. His practice in those areas encompasses simple and complex transactions, litigation, arbitration, mediation, general strategic advice and representation before zoning tribunals.
Mr. Herdman was first admitted to practice law in 1990. Before moving to New Mexico, Mr. Herdman was an attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City, where he practiced in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities litigation and anti-trust law.
He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School (J.D., magna cum laude, 1989) and the University of Michigan (B.A., high honors, 1984). Mr. Herdman was a member and Assistant Editor of the Buffalo Law Review (1988 to 1989). He has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Brooklyn Law School.
His publications include Doctors, Insurers and the Antitrust Laws, Buffalo Law Review, Vol. 37, pp. 789-829, 1988/89. From time to time, he writes a column entitled Business & Law that appears in the Business Section of the Santa Fe New Mexican. He is a past President of the First Judicial District Bar Association and a long-time member of the Bicycle Trails Advisory Committee for the City of Santa Fe. He has also served as a member of the City of Santa Fe’s Charter Review Committee. Mr. Herdman speaks regularly at continuing legal education seminars on the various areas in which he practices.
