Lawyers are problem solvers. I enjoy that role and I offer strong personal service, with creativity and energy to achieve it. The personal touch means being very accessible to you, promptly and personally responding and answering your questions, and fighting hard to advance your interests, in or out of court.
I have been practicing law for over 40 years and have gained a wealth of experience in my areas of focus, as well as in other practice areas. That vast experience gives me a big picture perspective that serves clients well and helps me to deliver strong, results oriented service. I strive to obtain effective settlement solutions without having to go to court, but if the other side won't cooperate, I'll do battle in court in pursuit of your goals.
In the Personal Injury area, I have successfully handled numerous cases in state and federal court, reaching settlement or going to trial. I have also handled scores of arbitrations. My cases have involved motor vehicle accidents, fall downs and other premises liability claims, products liability claims, as well as homeowners, uninsured motorist (UM), underinsured motorist (UIM) and other claims against insurance companies. I have handled serious injury, catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims; but I also handle less complex matters where people need representation.
In the Family Law area I have likewise successfully handled many files to conclusion, involving Child Support, Spousal Support and Alimony, Custody, Division of Property, and Domestic Violence/Abuse.
In the Criminal Law area I have successfully defended many clients charged with summary offenses, misdemeanors, or felonies, including traffic offenses, DUI, drug offenses, theft, or assault charges. Because of my experience level, other attorneys have chosen me to sit as an arbitrator in various types of cases involving insurance.
The many years of private practice have also provided me the opportunity to develop the skills and know-how for handling other types of legal matters not specifically mentioned here. I enjoy litigation and going to court, if necessary. But I recognize that Family Law and other civil law cases can take on a life of their own, and that it is therefore usually better, and less expensive, if the parties reach agreement and get on with their lives, without leaving it to the costly court system to impose decisions on them. Therefore, in 1987 I began years of training around the country to learn and develop Mediation skills to help disputing parties reach agreement. I have been a co-faculty member in Mediation trainings for other attorneys. I offer Mediation services to guide disputing parties to constructively and fairly settle their differences. I was one of the first attorneys in the region to become involved in Mediation. In 2009 I expanded my services to include Collaborative Law. Mediation and Collaborative practice are Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) solutions for people to avoid going to court and having decisions about their lives made by someone else.
