Biography

About George James Savin, Jr

George J. Savin Jr. is the Co-Founder and Senior Partner of The Law Offices of Savin & Bursk. He is one of Southern California’s most sought after workers’ compensation attorneys and has represented thousands of clients over the past 3 decades and recovered settlements and benefits for his clients in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

George J. Savin Jr., is a native Californian. He graduated from Cal State University Long Beach in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and from Washburn University School of Law in Kansas in 1973. He is admitted to practice law in California and Kansas. Mr. Savin was the Assistant District Attorney in Kansas from 1973 to 1975. His experience as a criminal prosecutor following law school gave Mr. Savin his advanced trial skills and the confidence he portrays today. Soon after, George J. Savin Jr. moved back to California in 1975 for a change in his practice area and to work as in-house corporate counsel for a major corporation. There he was instrumental in negotiations, arbitration and dispute settlements, drafting of contracts, legal advice and policy implementation. Mr. Savin realized that representing corporate giants was not rewarding and decided to represent the American worker.

Mr. Savin went into private practice and was joined by his partner and wife, Bonnie Marie Bursk in 1983 when they co-founded The Law Offices of Savin & Bursk. For the past 30 plus years George J. Savin Jr. has focused the majority of his practice in Workers’ Compensation Law which is the advocacy for employees injured on the job. Through his years of practice Mr. Savin has become one of the top attorneys in Southern California with monumental cases that have impacted workers’ compensation law in California. Mr. Savin is known in the workers’ compensation community for being able to take a good case and create a great case. Mr. Savin has tried hundreds of cases at the Workers Compensation Appeals Board and has taken other cases up on appeal to Sacramento CA. and to the California Supreme Court, and has been a part of law changing case decisions. Mr. Savin has recovered numerous multi million dollars awards for his clients, but most importantly, he has guided countless clients through serious injuries that derail their way of life, and shown them hope at the end of the tunnel.

George J. Savin Jr. has been a speaker at various functions for applicants’ attorneys including continuing education seminars which attorneys attend to learn about the field of workers’ compensation. Mr. Savin has a reputation in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley for being an excellent workers’ compensation attorney, and thus has been referred thousands of cases over the years. In fact, it would be difficult to find a Workers’ Compensation Judge or experienced workers’ compensation attorney in the greater Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange County area that was not familiar with George J. Savin Jr. and the Law Offices of Savin & Bursk. Mr. Savin has faced just about every defense law firm and corporate giant in the greater Los Angeles and surrounding cities with great success.

In addition to the typical workers’ compensation claims, George J. Savin, Jr., also handles Uninsured Employers’ Fund cases otherwise known as UEF. These are cases where the employer illegally has failed to secure insurance for their injured employees. Mr. Savin has been referred to as an expert with reference to the handling of Uninsured Employers Cases and has advised both civil litigators, workers compensation attorneys, and the labor board about the complications and dealing with Uninsured Employers and the Uninsured Employers Benefits Trust Fund (UEBTF). Whereas most attorneys refer out or refuse to touch UEF cases, Attorney George J. Savin Jr. has confidence and takes pride in being very successful in dealing with these more complicated types of cases.

In addition to his area of emphasis in Workers’ Compensation, Mr. Savin handles select catastrophic and wrongful death Personal Injury cases, and select Criminal Defense matters. During his 40 years of practicing Mr. Savin has commanded numerous jury trials in both personal injury matters and serious criminal defense matters.

Mr. Savin is an excellent trial attorney and a force to be reckoned with. He is a true applicant’s attorney who has dedicated the last 30 years of his life to helping injured workers and their families receive the benefits they should be entitled to under the law. It is truly a difficult task to find another workers’ compensation attorney with as much experience and knowledge as Mr. Savin.
