Biography
About Gregory Coolidge
Greg Coolidge joined Carpenter & Zuckerman as an attorney in October 2013, bringing with him a wealth of legal experience. Prior to becoming a part of the firm, Greg dedicated thirteen years of his legal career to litigating over 100 cases related to toxic injuries on behalf of workers who had suffered various diseases due to their exposure to hazardous chemical products. These workers came from diverse backgrounds, including lithographic printers, machinists, mechanics, aerospace workers, painters, and others who had been exposed to benzene-containing chemical products, leading to conditions such as leukemia, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other cancers. Additionally, he represented foundry workers, abrasive blasters, mold makers, and those exposed to silica dusts, aluminum oxide dusts, and metal fumes and dusts, resulting in interstitial lung disease, asthma, and other lung conditions. Greg also worked on cases involving food flavoring workers exposed to diacetyl and individuals exposed to silica and organic solvents who developed autoimmune diseases. Furthermore, he handled cases related to x-ray technicians exposed to hydroquinone-containing x-ray developers, leading to leukemia.
These cases were litigated against some of the world's largest chemical companies, including Chevron, Dow Chemical Company, BASF Corporation, Safety-Kleen Corporation, and hundreds of other companies that manufactured the toxic chemical products responsible for the workers' illnesses. Many of the workers and their families, represented by Greg, obtained substantial settlements, including eight-figure, seven-figure, and six-figure awards from these chemical companies.
Greg's legal experience extends to successfully litigating cases before the California Court of Appeal, including landmark cases such as Hernandez v. Superior Court (2003) and Tellez-Cordova v. Campbell-Hausfeld (2004).
In his academic journey, Greg earned a degree in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach, in 1992 and later received a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside in 1996, during which he was honored with three Graduate Council Fellowships.
Greg achieved his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Southwestern University School of Law in May 2000, graduating magna cum laude. His accomplishments during law school were numerous, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Southwestern University Law Review. He also stood out as the Second Place Oralist and Finalist Writer in Southwestern University's Intramural Moot Court Competition. Greg received multiple academic awards, including the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in various categories such as Torts, Legal Research and Writing, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Foundation of Torts. His dedication to his legal studies was recognized with the Dean's Merit Scholarship.
During the summers of 1998 and 1999, Greg served as a law clerk, first at Bet Tzedek Legal Services in Los Angeles, California, and then to the Honorable Robert M. Takasugi of the United States District Court, respectively.
