About Hanno D. Mott

Hanno joined Rottenberg Lipman Rich as of counsel in 2000, following more than 20 years as a founding and senior member of the general practice law firm Koenig, Ratner & Mott P.C. Hanno concentrates his practice on Art Law, International Taxation and International Private Law. He is a noted expert on Art Law, having taught and written extensively in the area and represents artists, cultural and non-profit institutions, art investors and galleries in all aspects of the law.
Hanno was admitted to practice law in Ohio in 1957, and in New York in 1959. He received both his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review(1956-57). In 1958, he received an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law and is certified as a Mediator by Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.
He has served as an Instructor in Federal Taxation at the New York University Graduate School of Law and is the former Chair of the Committee on Art Law of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is a member of the Sections on Taxation and International Law and Practice of the American Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is a member of the Law Advisory Council of the International Foundation for Art Research (IFAR). He has been a lecturer at the Practicing Law Institute Panel on Art and Taxes, Practicing Law Institute Panel on Immigration and Taxes, and Workshop on Conservation of Outdoor Sculpture at the International Sculpture Center.
Hanno maintains charitable affiliations with the American Friends of the Israel Museum, where he serves as a Board Member, Secretary, and Chair of the Planned Giving Committee; the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan, where he is a former Board Member, Member of the Executive Committee, and Chair of the Budget Committee; The Israel Museum, where he is a member of its International Council and by whom he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship; The Sigma Alpha Mu Foundation of which he is President; and he is a former Chair of the American Friends of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
