Howard B. Randell

HOWARD B. RANDELL, a Shareholder with the Firm and co-chair of its insurance coverage practice group, has over 25 years of experience in domestic and international Insurance coverage and litigation matters, representing U.S, London and Asian market insurers. His experience includes both first and third party coverage, claims defense and bad faith issues under a variety of insurance policies in both a commercial and personal lines context. He also focuses his practice on the defense and coverage of transportation, warehouse and related inland marine claims and the defense and coverage of national class action litigation.

Mr. Randell has litigated cases across the country in both federal and state courts. A representative sampling of those jurisdictions include Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Colorado and California. He is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, the Appellate Bars for United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Fourth, Sixth and Seventh Circuits, the Supreme Court of the United States and numerous state courts on a pro hac vice basis.

He is a frequent lecturer to insurance companies and industry groups and has served as a panelist for the Property Loss Research Bureau at both its national and regional conferences. Howard authored Property Insurance, “Types of Coverage Available” for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education and is an active participant in the Conference of Freight Counsel, Transportation Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute and the Chicago Bar Association Insurance Law Committee. He has been recognized for the past several years in the national list of Leading Lawyers.

Mr. Randell is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A.), and DePaul University College of Law (J.D.).
