About Hunter M. Abell

Hunter Abell is a Washington attorney who focuses on residential real estate, civil litigation, and Indian law. He represents clients in property disputes, commercial litigation, and matters involving federal, state, and tribal jurisdictions.

Hunter regularly appears before federal, state, and tribal courts, as well as administrative agencies, and has substantial experience handling residential real estate disputes.

Before joining Williams Kastner, Hunter served as an officer in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG), where he developed significant trial and litigation experience. During his military service, he was appointed Liaison Officer to the Central Criminal Court of Iraq in Baghdad, supporting the prosecution of insurgents accused of attacks on Iraqi and Coalition personnel. He continues to serve as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve and has received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.

Hunter has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for Commercial Litigation for 2024–2025.

He has held leadership roles in the legal profession and public service, including serving as President of the Washington State Bar Association and as a judge for the Ferry County District Court. He currently serves as a member of the Washington State House of Representatives.

A lifelong Washington resident, Hunter grew up in Ferry County on the Colville Indian Reservation, which informs his work in rural, real estate, and tribal legal matters.

He earned his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from The College of William and Mary. He also served on the Gonzaga Law Board of Advisors.
