Hunter Pyle

Hunter Pyle represents California employees in employment matters and has done so for more than 25 years. Based in Oakland, California, he is the founder of Hunter Pyle Law and focuses his practice on Employment Law – Individuals. Mr. Pyle regularly assists workers with wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination claims, retaliation and discrimination matters, and other workplace issues under California labor and employment laws.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Pyle serves as a Lecturer at Berkeley Law, where he teaches courses related to employment law and litigation. He has also contributed multiple chapters to employment law practice guides used by attorneys throughout California.

In 2024, Mr. Pyle participated in the negotiating team involved in legislative efforts that resulted in reforms to California’s Private Attorneys General Act (“PAGA”). His work frequently involves representative and class actions, individual employment claims, wage claims before the California Labor Commissioner, and unemployment insurance hearings.

Mr. Pyle has held several leadership roles within legal and community organizations. He previously served as Chair of the Wage and Hour Committee of the California Employment Lawyers Association, Chair of the Alameda County Bar Association Labor and Employment Committee, and President of the Bay Area Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. In 2002, he volunteered as Outreach Director for Just Cause Oakland, which helped pass Measure EE, a voter initiative providing that tenants may not be evicted without just cause.
