• As lead counsel, represented cybersecurity tech company against ex-CTO for breach of employment agreement, software misappropriation, and breach of fiduciary duties, and against competitor for breach of NDA and tortious interference. Matter was resolved.°
• As lead counsel, obtained a settlement, pre-litigation, in connection with an alleged material breach of a contract, under Virginia law, for failure to perform services for a definite period of time.°
• As lead counsel, obtained a judgment for $195,196.30, plus pre-judgment interest, for material breach of a construction contract for the improvement of a residential property.°
• As lead counsel, defended a business client in Montgomery County Circuit Court on contempt charges, for allegedly violating a stay under Maryland's Receivership Act, which resulted in the dismissal of the contempt charges.°
• Represented a creditor's attorney on contempt charges asserted by the General District Court of Fairfax County, in connection with a collections matter, which resulted in the contempt charges being dismissed.°
• As lead counsel, represented a franchisee before the Supreme Court of Virginia on an appeal that resulted in the reversal of a sanctions ruling by Fairfax County Circuit Court worth ~$55K.°
• Represented a 501(c) non-profit qualified to conduct charitable gaming in Virginia against the Virginia Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services and its agents for a failure to timely act upon an application for a permit to conduct Texas Hold'em Poker Tournaments, whereby the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond found in the charity’s favor and awarded $8,531.25 in attorney's fees for substantially prevailing on the merits of the case under the Virginia Administrative Process Act.°
• As lead counsel, in the Southern District of New York, drafted a motion to dismiss on the basis of a lack of personal jurisdiction, resulting in the dismissal of New York City's 5-count complaint against Defendant alleging violations of Contraband Cigarette Trafficking Act, 18 U.S.C. § 2341 et seq., Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1961 et seq., and New York State Public Health Law § 1399-ll, by engaging in a conspiracy to avoid payment of state and local taxes in connection with the sale and trafficking of interstate cigarettes.°
• As lead counsel, represented service provider and distributor of airport surveillance equipment on an antitrust complaint against a fortune 200 defense contractor, alleging violations of Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act and Section 3 of the Clayton Act, in connection with the market for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast equipment and services in the United States, which partially survived a motion to dismiss/strike.°
• As lead counsel, defended a 5-count lawsuit, alleging landlord of racial discrimination in violation of 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981-82 and tortious interference in connection with an assignment of a lease, which was dismissed on summary judgment based on the doctrine of respondeat superior.°
• Represented a logistics and shipping company in a trade secrets case under the Defend Trade Secrets Act (2016) pertaining to the misappropriation of trade secrets by an international industry-leading company, whereby the court substantially denied the Defendants’ Motion for Summary Judgment, leading to a resolution.
• Prepared a complex suit for a property owner, alleging damages in connection with a foreclosure sale of approximately 17-acres of real estate in Fairfax, Virginia, and prepared for and assisted with the trial that resulted in a $1,274,949.06 judgment in Plaintiff’s favor, which was featured on Virginia Lawyers Weekly “Virginia’s Largest Verdicts of 2019” concerning breaches of a promissory note and deed of trust prior to foreclosure.
• As pro bono counsel, assisted and advised a major law school and LL.M. students in obtaining Rule 46(c)(4) waiver from D.C. Court of Appeals.°
Legislative Experience
• Drafted and testified before the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates in support of SB1234 (2021), which amended Va. Code § 54.1-3926 and became law to provide foreign attorneys an avenue to become licensed as an attorney in Virginia.°
• Drafted and supported SB 845 (2023), which amended Va. Code § 8.01-223.2(A) and became law to provide an additional immunity to employees for statements made to their employer where retaliatory action against such employee by their employer is prohibited by Va. Code § 40.1-27.3.°
