Allen Cooper was born in 1966 in Coushatta, Louisiana. He grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, and attended Caddo Magnet High School, where he graduated near the top of the class in the first class to go all four (4) years to the then new high school. He then attended LSUS and graduated with honors with a degree in Economics. While at LSUS he served as a student government association senator. He also was awarded the Outstanding Economics Student Award in 1988, which is awarded to one senior each year by the faculty.

In 1988, Allen began attending the LSU Law Center. While at the LSU Law Center, he was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Insurance law. He was also on the Chancellor’s list. Upon graduation in 1991, Allen returned to Shreveport to practice law with a local law firm. In 1994, Allen began to focus his practice in the areas of personal injury law, workers' compensation law, social security disability law and medical malpractice law.

Allen Cooper has practiced law all across North Louisiana. He has made appearances before courts in Shreveport, Bossier, Mansfield, Many, Coushatta, Homer, Monroe and Alexandria. He has practiced in city, state and federal courts.
