Jerry M. Keys

Jerry is a founding member of Matheson Keys & Kordzik PLLC. Previously, Jerry had more than thirty years of legal experience with large law firms and as company general counsel. He has broad experience in representing technology, industrial and other intellectual property-based enterprises ranging from Fortune 500 companies, multinationals and universities to startups in both domestic and international matters. Jerry’s legal practice focuses on technology business, intellectual property, and corporate law matters. As a result of his diverse experience in legal, business, and governmental affairs, Jerry is particularly experienced in providing strategic Board-level legal counseling to startups, emerging and rapid growth companies, both in private practice and as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of a venture capital-funded Internet/information technology company. Jerry is widely recognized for his understanding of the interplay of technology and intellectual property with business and government and for his ability to assist clients in cost effectively commercializing and monetizing their intellectual property assets. Jerry is also very active in civic affairs, particularly economic development.

A West Texas native, Mr. Keys received his J.D. with honors in 1975 after earning a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, with honors, in 1970, both from The University of Texas at Austin. Jerry is also registered to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
