John C. Carpenter

In 1995, I, alongside my esteemed colleague Paul Zuckerman, founded the distinguished legal firm Carpenter & Zuckerman. Our professional journey began on the first day of law school at Southwestern in Los Angeles. We embarked on our legal education together, graduated as contemporaries in 1991, and even shared the experience of preparing for the bar examination. Notably, during those early days, we kindled our shared passion for motorcycle cases, an enthusiasm that endures.

With nearly three decades of experience as a jury trial lawyer, I have accumulated a remarkable track record. Over the years, I've secured in excess of $100 million in compensation for individuals grappling with life-altering injuries. My legal practice is underpinned by a steadfast commitment to assisting clients with the most severe injuries, particularly traumatic brain injuries, in their quest to secure the financial resources required for rebuilding their lives.

My credentials include graduating from Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College. I take great pride in my dedication to taking on arduous yet meritorious cases, never opting for the easy path to trial only to tout the results. I commenced my legal journey by handling and litigating cases that other law firms declined. This background equips me with the ability to handle tough cases effectively. In 2017, I was honored with a nomination for "Attorney of the Year" by the prestigious Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA). Beyond trial work, I also maintain an active appellate practice, with the California Supreme Court granting my petitions for review on two notable occasions. My accomplishments have earned me the distinction of being selected as a Top 100 Attorney, and my work has been duly recognized by VerdictSearch's "Verdict of the Week."

Personal Life:

My personal story is influenced by a backdrop of being raised by a single mother from the age of 6 months in Los Angeles County. My mother's unwavering determination saw her juggling two jobs, serving as both a legal secretary and a waitress, to provide for our family. A significant turning point in my life occurred when my mother met and later married a lawyer named Greg Larson during my fourth-grade years. It marked the first time I had a father figure in my life, and Greg profoundly shaped the person I am today. He is, unequivocally, my dad, and I attribute much of my character to his influence.

My dedication to the well-being of children is unwavering, a sentiment driven by my role as a father to two young children of my own. My daughter, Charlotte, was born in March 2011, followed by the arrival of my son, Jack, in November 2016. I made a conscious decision to postpone starting a family until I was confident that I could devote the time and attention necessary to be a good father. This choice stands as one of the most rewarding decisions I've made. Embracing the roles of husband and father is, without a doubt, the most enriching aspect of my life. In my leisure time, I find solace in the ocean's embrace, engaging in activities such as sailing and surfing.
