He has attended the Tennessee Criminal Defense College multiple years and in 2014 was awarded the Massey McGee Trial Advocacy Award “for having the honesty to consider his own advocacy, the courage to learn new trial methods, and the bravery to take his new skills to the courtroom.” In 2015, Joe was invited to return to the TCDC as an associate instructor.
