He has successfully represented clients in a wide range of criminal cases, including DUI, felony charges, and landlord-tenant disputes. He is dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals and ensuring they receive strong legal representation.
Joe earned his B.A. from Franklin Pierce College in 1994, where he majored in finance/business management. After several years, he passed the CPA exam and obtained licensing in banking, mortgages, real estate, and insurance. Later he pursued his J.D. at the University of New Hampshire School of Law, graduating in 2001. Additionally, he holds a certification in DWI Detection and Field Sobriety Testing from NHTSA – the same training the police received.
After law school, Joe gained extensive courtroom experience as a public defender at the New Hampshire Public Defender’s Office, handling over 2,000 cases and participating in hundreds of trials. In addition he was an Adjunct Professor at NHTI and UNH teaching subjects such as Introduction to Business, Accounting and Finance, Business Law, and Economics.
In 2011, he established Prieto Law, PLLC, where he continues to provide aggressive defense for individuals facing serious legal challenges. His expertise has led to successful case outcomes, including dismissals and acquittals in high-stakes criminal cases.
Beyond his legal practice, Joe is a NH native, grew up in Nashua, graduated from Bishop Guertin and is an active member of professional organizations, including the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, the National Trial Lawyers, and the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
