Prior to joining Cole, Scott, & Kissane, Mr. Pumilia focused his practice on general casualty defense for a large insurance defense firm before founding a family law practice and serving as its Managing Partner. During that time, his practice covered a variety of practice areas including civil litigation, personal injury, estate planning, probate administration and litigation, criminal defense, business formation, and real estate matters. Mr. Pumilia has successfully conducted numerous trials including the defense of a corporation and its directors for breach of fiduciary duty and violations of the by-laws bought by a former director resulting a complete defense verdict for his client, the defense of an agent acting under a power-of-attorney accused of violations of Medicaid Estate Recovery laws and breach of fiduciary duty resulting in a complete defense verdict, and a complete defense verdict for a large landlord against claims of American Disabilities Act (ADA) discrimination and retaliatory eviction.
Mr. Pumilia obtained his Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law where he graduated magna cum laude and served as a Notes and Comments Editor on the Northern Illinois University Law Review. During his time in law school, he served a Law Clerk for a Circuit Court Judge and as a Summer Associate for a large insurance defense firm. Prior to law school, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
