Biography
About Kathleen M. Egan
I did not always know that I wanted to become an attorney. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in psychology, I was still searching for a meaningful career path. I decided to take time to explore my interests and moved to New York for a year. While there, I observed a law school class with a friend, an experience that sparked my interest in the law. That moment led me to prepare for the LSAT and ultimately enroll at Touro Law School.
Law school proved to be a transformative experience. The coursework, professors, and relationships challenged me to think critically about complex issues and view problems from multiple perspectives. Upon graduating, however, I remained uncertain about which area of law to pursue. I was drawn to many practice areas until an opportunity presented itself at a boutique law firm on Long Island that focused exclusively on family law. That position marked the beginning of my career in this field.
Practicing law in New York was demanding and shaped my professional foundation. Appearing before rigorous judges and working in a fast-paced environment taught me discipline, preparation, and respect for the legal process. Those early years instilled values I continue to carry with me in my practice today, including professionalism and appreciation for the responsibility attorneys hold within the justice system.
In 2014, I returned to Oklahoma following my divorce, accompanied by my Shiba Inu, Riley Marie. At that time, I was uncertain whether family law was still the right fit for me, so I explored personal injury law for about a year. That experience helped me gain perspective and ultimately reaffirmed that family law was where I felt most aligned. I returned to family law in 2015 with a renewed sense of purpose.
Since that time, I have continued to develop my litigation, negotiation, and legal writing skills through national training conferences and focused education on complex divorce matters, including business valuation issues. I am board-certified for Family Law Trials by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. I am also certified as a mediator through the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, which supports my work in Family Law Mediation. Today, I practice Family Law and Family Law Mediation in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Bundy.
I understand that family law matters often involve deeply personal and emotional circumstances. My approach is centered on clear communication, respect, and practical guidance. I strive to help clients understand their options and navigate family conflicts with honesty and care, always mindful of the impact these legal issues have on their lives and families.
