Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she graduated cum laude from Presbyterian College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Political Science. She received her Juris Doctorate in 2001 from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. She is licensed to practice in the courts of the State of Texas as well as the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
