Kristin is a native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and moved to Virginia in 1997 after she completed law school. She is married to Frank Wright, Jr. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a beagle.

Kristin is a member of the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Bar Association, Lynchburg Bar Association, and the Campbell County Bar Association. She is an inactive member of the District of Columbia Bar.
