Lake Lytal, Jr. has had a highly successful career as a civil trial attorney. He started practicing law in 1967 in West Palm Beach, Fl. Lake carry’s on the Lytal family tradition of highly visible service to the community. His father, Lake Lytal, Sr. came to Palm beach County in and served as a Palm Beach County Commissioner for 32 years, beginning in 1941. His mother, Ruth, was a school teacher for many years.
Lake’s parents instilled in him the importance of helping others. Through their involvement in the community, he was often surrounded by the country’s leading politicians, businessmen and civic leaders.
Lake is a graduated of Palm Beach High School, class of 1958. He attended Palm Beach Junior College and then graduated from Florida State University in 1962. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida in 1965. Lake is a past President of the Palm Beach Community College and Palm Beach County Florida State University Alumni associations.
Lake is a former Florida Bar Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and was one of the first attorneys in the country to be certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Lake and Joe Reiter have been working together in personal injury law since 1968. Lake now specializes in medical malpractice litigation, helping people who have suffered an injury or death as a result of medical negligence. He measures his success by his growing list of satisfied clients and believes that an individual deserves equal representation when facing highly skilled defense attorneys hired by hospitals and insurance companies.
Lake is past President of the Florida Justice Association and has received the organization’s highest honors for his outstanding contributions to the cause of civil justice, including the Perry Nichols Award in 2000 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003. He has graded answers and prepared questions for The Florida Bar Trial Certification Examination and is a lecturer in The Florida Bar Continuing Legal Education Program and has been an instructor at The Bar’s annual Advanced Trial Advocacy Program. He is also a former Chairman of The Florida Bar Grievance Committee of the 15th Judicial Circuit. He is also a charter member of the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is a Director of the Florida Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company. His other legal associations include The Florida Bar, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, and the American Justice Association. In addition, he served as the first lay member of the Florida Board of Chiropractic by Gubernatorial appointment.
Recognizing the need for more minority attorneys in our community, Lake has endowed a scholarship in his name for African American students to attend the University of Florida College of Law.
