Ms. Edgerton is frequently invited to speak at national and regional immigration conferences on such topics as permanent residence, H-1B and training (H-3/J-1) visas, and employment verification/I-9 issues. She has authored and edited numerous immigration articles in leading publications and has been interviewed extensively in the business and local press on immigration issues. She is a former Chair of the Carolinas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She was previously a member of AILA's Distance Learning Committee and has previously served as the Vice Chair of the Ethics and Practice Management Committee for AILA National and as the National Chair of AILA's Young Lawyers Division (now New Members Division).
Following a federal judicial clerkship, Ms. Edgerton started her career with Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, in Winston-Salem. In 1996, she joined Maupin Taylor, PA (now Williams Mullen), in Raleigh, North Carolina, to develop and manage the firm’s immigration practice. Most recently, Ms. Edgerton was a partner at another immigration law firm in Raleigh. Ms. Edgerton is a magna cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University and a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law.
