Maritza Alvarez-Shapiro is Of Counsel with Zumpano Patricios. Ms. Alvarez concentrates her practice in the area of criminal law. As a former Miami-Dade County Public Defender, she has maintained a managed caseload in excess of 200 cases, conducted over thirty jury trials, and over fifty bench trials. Ms. Alvarez has practiced in Circuit Court, Juvenile Court, and County Court. Ms. Alvarez is currently a Special Appointed Public Defender (SAPD). She currently practices criminal defense litigation in both State and Federal Court. Martiza Alvarez was rated Best of the Bar, 2003, South Florida Business Journal and recognized as an "Up and Comer" 2003/2004, South Florida Legal Guide.
