For the first twelve years he was engaged in a general practice with an emphasis thereafter on criminal law and personal injury, including civil rights and premises liability issues. He has trial experience in most counties of Washington, as well as in the federal courts of Washington. He is a former City Attorney and Judge for the City of Gig Harbor. Member, Board of Directors, Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel, 1988-1994. Selected to The Best Lawyers in America. Selected annually as one of Washington State's Super Lawyers by Law & Politics Magazine. Recipient, Gideon's Trumpet Award for Outstanding Assistance to the Indigent. Appointed by the Federal District Court Judges of Western Washington as a Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, 2001-2003.
