Nicholas Krochta

Nicholas L. Krochta, Esq. is a member of Garces, Grabler & Lebrocq’s Worker’s Compensation department and devotes all of his practice to this area. Nick has had a long and distinguished legal career dedicating himself to this field for the past 25 years. In connection with his worker’s compensation practice, he also has extensive experience handling personal injury cases where the negligence of a third-party, not the employer, is the one primarily responsible for his client’s injuries. New Jersey is a state where many such cases arise. For example, the employee may be exposed to hazardous materials, such as asbestos, for long periods of time and this often results in catastrophic illnesses which cause total disability preventing further employment.

Mr. Krochta obtained his law degree from the Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans. Prior to that, he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Scranton. Both are Jesuit schools. Nick continues to be an active member of his church and sings in the church choir.

Nick joined the Garces law firm in 2015 after he and his former law partners decided to go their separate ways. During his long career as a Worker’s Compensation attorney, Mr. Krochta has built a strong rapport with both the judges he has appeared before and the attorneys representing the other party. At the request of the presiding Judge in Essex County, Nick had been invited to lecture on Law Day before less experienced lawyers on various issues directly affecting the representation of injured workers.

Mr. Krochta has been on “both sides of the fence”, first representing the employer and now representing the injured worker. He has chosen this path because he is very aware that work-related injuries cause quality of life issues. And not just for the injured worker but for the entire family. Nick was born and raised in Somerset County, New Jersey and still resides there with his wife of 35 years. They have two adult children, both of whom are college graduates. Nick and his wife are very proud of both.
