Pete Chattrabhuti

Pete Chattrabhuti practices in the Firm’s Complex Litigation, Environmental, NRD, Pharmaceutical Products, and Toxic Torts & Products Liability groups. He has experience with many aspects of the litigation process, including motions practice, Daubert challenges, pretrial discovery, and expert witness preparation. In his environmental practice, Mr. Chattrabhuti has worked in numerous mass toxic tort and groundwater contamination cases in state and federal courts, in which plaintiffs alleged personal injuries and property damages from exposures to chemicals, including PFAS, PCBs, TCE, lead, arsenic, and chlorofluorocarbons. He has experience defending CERCLA cost recovery actions, as well as litigating natural resource damages claims. In his NRD practice, Mr. Chattrabhuti has been involved in the briefing, pre-trial discovery, and pre-litigation counseling of various claims brought by trustees relating to historical operations at client facilities. He has also aided in the assessment of potential impacts to natural resources and the services provided by those resources.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Chattrabhuti was an Assistant Attorney General and Charles F.C. Ruff Fellow in the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. In that capacity, he worked as a trial attorney for the Civil Enforcement Section, Public Interest Division, and served as lead counsel in multiple administrative hearings and civil litigation matters on behalf of the District of Columbia.

Mr. Chattrabhuti received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the Virginia Tax Review Editorial Board and the Law & Business Program. He graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in Political Science.

Mr. Chattrabhuti is also involved with pro bono work, serving as a volunteer bankruptcy attorney with the District of Columbia Bar Pro Bono Center Bankruptcy Clinic. He was awarded Honors from the DC Bar Pro Bono Honor Roll in 2019.
