Phillip (“Phil”) Gilbert grew up just outside the small Mid-Willamette Valley town of Lebanon, Oregon. Phil’s family owned and operated a water well pump system business and Phil worked for the business during Summers, and some weekends, as well as after school.

Phil obtained an Associates Degree in 1983 (Linn-Benton Community College in Albany) and then his Bachelors Degree (Political Science) in 1985, from Oregon State University.

After graduating from Oregon State, Phil got married, and worked for a few years for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, working as a liability claims adjuster. In the late 1980′s, Phil was accepted at Lewis & Clark College/Northwestern College of Law. Phil obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 1992.

During law school Phil worked for a large Portland law firm that primarily represented insurance companies. After he graduated from law school, Phil worked for two Portland “defense” firms, handling medical malpractice, automobile accident and other cases. In March of 1995, Phil opened up his own firm, in Gresham, Oregon
