Po Yi

With over two decades of experience in private practice and in-house, Po Yi provides cross-purpose, multidisciplinary legal counseling on transactional and regulatory matters in advertising, entertainment and digital media. She works with clients in strategically assessing competitive and regulatory compliance challenges; negotiating business alliances, including sponsorships, tie-in arrangements with sports and entertainment properties, co-promotion deals, agency agreements, and talent endorsements; and developing and implementing advertising and marketing programs across multiple platforms.

Po serves clients across a wide range of industry sectors, including financial services, consumer products, retail, hospitality, sports, media and entertainment, and advertising. Her clients range from major brands to independent digital and technology companies at various stages of development.

Po was formerly vice president and chief advertising counsel for American Express, where she served as the lead counsel to the company’s chief marketing officer and the global advertising and brand management group as well as to the U.S. card marketing group. At American Express, Po worked on some of the most iconic brand campaigns as well as innovative marketing and advertising programs in social, digital and traditional media platforms. She also negotiated major media agreements and sponsorships in sports, film, music and fashion, as well as celebrity talent agreements.

A recognized thought leader, Po has also taught communications law at Syracuse University in its S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Prior to joining Manatt, Po was a partner in the advertising and marketing practice group for a large national law firm in New York City.
