About Raymond J. Hunter
Raymond J. Hunter serves as Of Counsel out of our Philadelphia office, practicing in the areas of premises liability, general liability, product liability and contract disputes.
Prior to joining HBS, Ray worked as a partner in a mid-size defense firm where he handled a variety of general liability matters, specializing in representation of commercial property owners/lessees and their insurers in casualty and contract litigation, and also handling product liability actions on behalf of trucking companies and furniture manufacturers and their insurers. Ray also has extensive experience representing railroad corporations in personal injury actions filed by employees, licensees/vendors and trespassers.
In addition to defending claims, Ray provides proactive risk management and counseling services designed to help clients minimize potential liability exposure. He works closely with clients to evaluate operations, policies and procedures to identify areas of risk and develop practical strategies aimed at preventing claims and reducing exposure. Ray takes a collaborative approach to litigation and counseling matters, developing tailored defense strategies that align with the unique circumstances, business objectives and operational needs of each client. His experience also includes handling toxic tort and asbestos litigation, as well as construction defect matters involving complex liability and damages issues.
Ray’s practice also includes significant experience handling product liability matters involving claims of defective products allegedly causing injury or damage. He has represented manufacturers, distributors and retailers in product liability litigation and has experience evaluating product defect allegations, analyzing causation issues and developing effective defense strategies on behalf of his clients. Ray remains current on legal developments, evolving regulations and industry trends impacting liability litigation, allowing him to provide informed counsel and effective representation in an increasingly complex legal environment.
Ray earned his Juris Doctorate from the Villanova University and received his Bachelor of Science, cum laude, from Northern Arizona University.
Outside of his professional career, he actively served on the Board of Directors of the Brandywine Youth Club and volunteered as a coach in several youth basketball sports programs in southeastern Pennsylvania. He enjoys sailing with his wife and kids on the Chesapeake Bay and is an ardent supporter and fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Sixers.

•Ray was awarded the Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, Earl G. Harrison Pro Bono Award in 2022 in connection with his representation of a governmental entity in several matters involving various Philadelphia City ordinances governing the regulation of “ghost guns.”
