Robert S. Peckar

Robert S. Peckar is a founding partner of Peckar & Abramson PC, based in New York, New York. He has devoted his career to representing participants in the construction industry, with a practice focused on Construction Law and Litigation – Construction. For decades, he has advised and represented contractors and construction companies across the United States and internationally, addressing a wide range of legal, business, and project-related challenges.

Throughout his career, Bob has been closely involved in the development and use of dispute avoidance and dispute resolution strategies within the construction industry. His work also includes advising clients on corporate integrity programs and anticorruption compliance matters, including issues arising under the United States Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, for companies operating in domestic and international markets.

Bob’s long-standing service to the construction industry includes many years as general counsel to the New York Building Congress, where he currently serves as general counsel emeritus. He has also served as general counsel to the Building Trades Employers’ Association of New York, the Building Contractors Association of New Jersey, and the national Construction Financial Management Association. In addition, he has participated in educational programs sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of America, the American Arbitration Association, and other industry organizations throughout the country.

Service to the construction bar has been an important part of Bob’s professional career. He has been an active member of construction-related sections of the American Bar Association and has presented papers and participated in programs at bar association events in the United States and abroad. He is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers and has chaired its ADR and International Law Committee.

Bob has written extensively on construction law and dispute resolution topics. He is a contributing author to several construction law textbooks and the author of New Jersey Practice: Construction Law. He also serves as editor of Getting the Deal Through – Construction, an international survey of construction and construction law topics published by Law Business Research in coordination with the International Bar Association and the ABA Section of International Law.

Bob’s work has been acknowledged by a number of professional publications and organizations over the years, including repeated listings by International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers and The Legal 500: United States, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Jersey Law Journal.

Bob is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey, as well as before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Circuits, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School.
