About Ronald E. Reagan
Ron is a lifelong Nebraska resident, graduating from the University of Nebraska in 1960 and from Creighton University School of Law in 1967. As a partner in the firm, Ron offers the clients of Reagan, Melton & Delaney, L.L.P. the benefit of over 45 years of legal experience, 32 of which were spent as a District Court Judge. Service to his country, state, and community has always been important to Ron. He was commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps after obtaining his undergraduate degree and served for four years. His military service was primarily with the infantry, serving as a platoon leader, company executive officer, and a company commanding officer. His duty stations and assignments included Quantico, Camp Pendleton, Cuba, Okinawa, and other locations in the Far East. Ron was admitted to the bar upon receiving his law degree from Creighton University School of Law, and maintained a general practice during the next five years. In 1970, he received the democratic nomination for lieutenant governor. In 1972 he was appointed as district court judge and served in that capacity for over 32 years. During his judicial career, he heard over 3,000 criminal cases which included first degree murder, robbery, sexual assault, and theft cases and over 12,000 civil cases including medical malpractice, wrongful death, personal injury, eminent domain, invasion of privacy, and domestic matters. Ron also served several times with the Nebraska Supreme Court, publishing several opinions. Upon retiring from the bench in 2005, Ron joined his son, Sean, in the private practice. He maintains a limited caseload, preferring to provide support for other attorneys in the form of guidance and advice on pleadings, briefs, and procedures as well as on substantive issues.Since retirement, Ron has received a favorable Supreme Court ruling establishing an attorney’s obligation to pay for support services, a favorable settlement for a minority shareholder’s stock in a closed corporation, and a Court of Appeals decision affirming a dismissal of an action by an ex-spouse to vacate a property settlement on the grounds of fraud.
