Sarah Scheckel Kim

After five years as a trial attorney at Panish Shea & Boyle, LLP, Sarah Kim joins Chang Klein, LLP with extensive experience in representing personal injury plaintiffs — especially in matters involving wrongful death, catastrophic injury, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse.

A compassionate and successful advocate, Sarah always takes the time to connect with her clients and understand their injuries and losses. According to her, there is nothing more rewarding than being able to make her clients feel heard and understood.

Sarah’s unwavering passion for the law combined with her innovative approach to storytelling have yielded countless victories. Some of these career highlights include compelling a special needs school to produce documents which ultimately proved it negligently supervised a young girl, leading to her sexual assault by another student; handily defeating a motion for summary judgment involving the recreational use immunity; beating a motion to compel production of pre-incident social media posts of a plaintiff; and successfully obtaining a protective order which kept a uniquely fragile, sexual assault victim from being deposed.

Sarah, a 2020 Super Lawyers Rising Star, received her B.A. from UCLA (Go Bruins!) and her J.D. from Loyola Law School, here in Los Angeles. While in law school she interned with the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Appellate Division and the Federal Public Defender’s Office – Habeus Corpus Division.

Born and raised in the Chicago area, Sarah has made southern California her home for the past fifteen years and is still not missing those midwestern winters. She describes herself as an avid reader and an adventurous traveler. Sarah loves to explore and try new foods, especially street foods, both here in Los Angeles and all over the world.
