Scott P. Distasio

As an ethical and trusted personal injury lawyer, Scott Distasio founded Distasio Law Firm in February of 2006, which focuses on all types of personal injury cases. He wanted to open a law firm that represented his belief that all firms should provide ethical and outstanding service to their clients.

Scott is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer (an accomplishment achieved by less than 1% of Florida lawyers), and has tried cases of all kinds in both state and federal courts: medical malpractice, auto accidents, slip and falls, products liability, and nursing home abuse cases. In order to be a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, an attorney must pass a trial law proficiency test and have widespread trial experience. Because of this distinction, Scott is able to call himself an expert trial lawyer.

An “AV” rating is the highest attainable ranking an attorney can achieve for ability and ethics in the practice of law. It is based on evaluations from other lawyers and judges. Scott is rated “AV” by prominent national legal publication Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Additionally, he is a member of “The Million Dollar Advocates Forum.” This is a group of trial lawyers who have won settlements and verdicts of a million dollars or more, and less than 1% of all lawyers are members.

In 1986, Scott received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida. In 1990, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he had been a member of both the Moot Court and served as Vice Chancellor of the Student Honor Court.

His legal career began in 1990 at a leading Tampa defense firm as an associate, where he defended all types of individuals and corporations accused of causing personal injuries, including doctors, jail medical providers, hospitals, and nursing homes. In 1998, he became a shareholder of the firm, and remained there until 2000, when he decided to help injured people. From January of 2000 until February of 2006, Scott helped start a distinguished plaintiff’s personal injury law firm in Tampa, where he practiced before starting Distasio Law Firm.

Today, Scott is a Tampa personal injury lawyer who is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Pennsylvania. He is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. He’s also admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Attorney Scott Distasio is a member of: The American Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, American Association for Justice, and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Scott resides in a subdivision of Hillsborough County, Florida; his law practice, however, covers the entire state of Florida.
