Scott Plankey was born in Holyoke, MA, but considers Augusta, GA to be his adopted hometown. During his formative years, he had the good fortune of living in the great states of Massachusetts, Florida, Missouri, Ohio, New Hampshire, and ultimately Georgia, which developed his ability to relate to clients from a multitude of regions and backgrounds. He attended Lakeside High School, played basketball and was an active member of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). Scott attended the University of Georgia, in Athens, and graduated with a B.A. in International Business in 1999. Scott returned to his alma mater in 2003, and received an MBA with concentrations in Corporate Finance, Consulting, and Risk Management in 2004. While in graduate school, he was a founding member of, and was selected as the VP of Professional Development for the Graduate Marketing Organization.
Scott attended the University Of Miami School Of Law. While in law school, he worked as a legal intern for the Honorable Patricia Marino-Pedraza, the State Attorney’s Office of Miami-Dade County, and the Office of the General Counsel for Vital Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Before coming to work for the firm, Scott gained valuable experience working for the Seventh District Coast Guard Office of the Judge Advocate General.
Scott is the Managing Partner for the firm’s Tampa Bay office. He concentrates his practice exclusively in Florida in the areas of civil litigation including automobile negligence, construction defect, insurance defense, first-party property, hotel & restaurant liability, negligent security, premises liability, windstorm and wrongful death.
Through the use of aggressive litigation and timely mediation, Scott has secured numerous favorable settlements for his clients in both simple and complex litigation matters. Scott has also successfully argued dispositive motions in a number of cases throughout the state of Florida that have allowed for their economical and expeditious conclusion.
Scott is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. Additionally, Scott has been named a Super Lawyers© for his exceptional work in civil litigation. Scott now calls St. Petersburg, FL his home. He has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and is an advocate for animal welfare, so much so that he recently adopted a 6-month old black Labrador retriever named Ripley rescued from a rural underpass.
