Steven A. Pepper

Steven A. Pepper is a partner in the Real Estate Practice (including the Multifamily Practice), the Commercial Lending Practice, and the Healthcare Real Estate Practice. He is a former member of the firm's Executive Committee and a former co-chair of the firm's Diversity Committee. He serves clients out of the Atlanta office. Best Lawyers named Mr. Pepper the "Atlanta Best Lawyers Real Estate Law Lawyer of the Year" for 2012.

Mr. Pepper focuses his practice on the representation of multifamily developers and owners in the development and financing of new multifamily apartment projects and in the acquisition, financing and disposition of existing multi-family apartment projects, as well as in the structuring and closing of other commercial real estate transactions. These transactions have included the acquisition, development and financing of raw land, office buildings, residential subdivisions, condominiums, industrial properties and retail projects. Additionally, Mr. Pepper often represents local, regional and national lenders in the structuring and closing of commercial real estate term and construction loan transactions, corporate lending transactions, and asset based lending transactions, as well as in handling loan workouts and restructurings for these institutions. He has led several due diligence teams in connection with the acquisition of several large loan portfolios by one lender from another.

Mr. Pepper has significant experience in the negotiation, preparation and review of all types of loan documentation and complex multifamily development documentation. He regularly serves as special Georgia counsel on significant multi-state financings of all types where he is engaged by lead counsel at major national firms located in New York and throughout the nation to provide advice on Georgia law and to provide opinion letters in connection with significant financings.

Mr. Pepper is active in several community organizations and has a keen interest in civil and human rights. It is this interest that has led to his involvement with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), where he is Chairman of the Southeastern Regional Board of ADL.
