Todd S. Wilkinson, Jr.

Through his years of experience representing companies of all sizes at a large international law firm, TJ Wilkinson developed a keen business acumen that helps him view transactions holistically, allowing him to guide clients’ day-to-day decisions from a broad perspective and promote the overall financial health of their enterprise. Working with clients across industries, ranging from startups to mature businesses, TJ applies his depth of knowledge in taxation and his comprehensive business savvy to develop creative strategies that help clients achieve their goals.

TJ provides clients with insight into the income tax implications of their business transactions and helps them to come up with tax-efficient, tax-compliant structures that maximize value while minimizing tax risk. He advises on matters relating to mergers, acquisitions, distributions, entity formation, qualified small business stock (Section 1202), private equity investments, capital structure, loans, equity compensation plans (including Section 409A compliance and risk), and implications of new legislation and guidance.

Clients appreciate that TJ draws from his background in software development to provide informed perspective and thoughtful guidance on the value and impact of technology on their business and that, by using time-saving productivity technology in his own practice, he delivers efficient results. He also uses his tech knowledge and experience to lead the firm’s Information Systems Group.

TJ earned degrees from Harvard University (A.B.), Columbia Law School (J.D.) and New York University School of Law (LL.M.). He is an active member of the American Bar Association.
